A little about Savage Hill Cattle Company?
Savage Hill Cattle Company is a local, ethical, family run cattle farm right in the geographic heart of Connecticut and we LOVE it here.
We specialize in free range grass and hay-fed beef by the side and the care and dedication we show to our herd sets us apart from others. We utilize Black Angus cattle crossbred with Wagyu cattle (Wagyu cattle produce the meat more commonly known as Kobe beef) which has allowed us to offer our clients a wonderful quality beef. This has enabled us to take advantage of the superior hybrid vigor traits or heterosis of a crossbred animal which makes them more hearty, healthy and naturally productive. Our animals are kept outdoors in a low stress environment year round with the exceptional need of a young calf and mother during very inclement weather. We want our customers to enjoy the beef from us but the health and quality of life for our herd is always our primary goal.
Producing quality grass-fed beef is no easy task; we have found the introduction of Wagyu genetics into our operation has made an enormous impact on the flavor and tenderness of our beef. Savage Hill Cattle Company is now able to produce an even better grass-fed product without compromising the quality you would expect from a great steak! Being a small, local family run operation that values old fashioned farming techniques and humane treatment of all our animals is what sets us apart and we don’t take that responsibility lightly. We DO NOT use any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides anywhere on our property. This in turn allows a diverse group of soil microbes to improve nutrient cycling and deliver more trace minerals through the food chain and eventually to you.
We pledge that we will never use artificial growth hormones, antibiotics or other drugs in our cattle. All of the beef that we sell from our farm comes from cattle that have been born and raised on our farm in accordance with our strict husbandry practices. This eliminates the possibility of introducing animals that can be sick, diseased or not raised to our standards. At Savage Hill Cattle Company, we feel that an unwavering commitment to our cattle is what allows us to bring a top notch product to our faithful customers.

Some of the Details
At Savage Hill Cattle Company:
- Currently we only sell our beef by the whole or half cow portions. A typical side of beef weighs approximately 300-350 pounds.
- There is an approximate 30 day lead time and $800 deposit for a half or $1500 deposit for a whole as animals are processed on a per order basis for maximum quality.
- All of our meat is processed in USDA inspected facilities.
- The current price is $6.50 per pound hanging weight for a half and discounted to $6.00 per pound for a whole cow; this includes custom cutting to customer specifications (if desired) and vacuum sealing.
- Please be aware that prices are subject to change as our costs fluctuate and know that we do everything in our power to keep our pricing consistent.
